Parish Services

The Divine Service is offered at Grace every Sunday from September to May at 10:45 am and at 9:30 am during the summer months (June-August). In the Divine Service we come together in God’s gracious and holy Presence so that we may hear the Gospel, receive forgiveness for our sins, and be fed with His Word and Sacrament. In the Divine Service, we also respond to the gift of God’s grace by confessing our faith, singing hymns, and prayer.

Cranach1

At Grace we always follow the historic and traditional Lutheran liturgy of the Western Church as it is found in our hymnal, the Lutheran Service Book.

During Lent and Advent, Vespers services are offered on Wednesdays at 7:00 pm. Vespers is the Church’s service of evening prayer, and it includes hymns, psalms, prayers, lessons and a sermon.

Divine Services are also offered at various festivals of the Church year.

Catechesis and Christian Education

Sunday school for children ages 3-12 is offered each Sunday at 9:30 am (except during summer).

Bible study for high school students is also offered each Sunday at 9:30 am (except during summer).

Grace weekly adult Bible study: Sunday morning at 9:30 am.

For those wishing to become new members, or who wish to learn more about the Christian faith, the pastor offers catechetical classes and instruction in the Lutheran faith based upon the Holy Scriptures and Luther’s Small Catechism for both children and adults.

Private Confession

Pastor offers Private Confession and Absolution according to Luther’s Small Catechism upon request. In Private Confession, persons may come to the pastor individually in order to confess sins which they especially feel in their hearts, to which the pastor gives absolution and forgiveness which comes from Christ Himself. The Pastor will always keep what is confessed to him in the strictest confidence.

Visitation

The Pastor is always very willing to visit those sick in the hospital, or those who would like a visit at home. Please let the pastor know if you would desire a pastoral visit from him.

Choirs and Instrumental Groups

The Children’s Choir sings during services several times each season, and practices on Thursday evenings at our music night at 6:30 pm.

Instrumentalists and guest musicians are also involved from time to time.

Ladies of Grace

The Ladies of Grace usually meet on the third Tuesday of each month at the church.

Church Library

The Grace Lutheran Library is always open to serve the congregation’s reading needs. The library is very well stocked for its size and we are continually improving the quality of its holdings.  There are many books that help with Bible study and understanding the world of the Holy Bible.  We also have a good collection of suitable books (including many classics that are getting hard to find in public libraries) for children and teenagers.  Books may be borrowed on the honours system.  There is no time limit for how long you can keep a book.  We suggest taking a photo or making a note of what you borrow on your phone so that you remember to return it.
