Funeral of Rev. Carl Wagner, Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 11AM at Grace

Dear members of Grace and members of the synod:

Rev. Carl Louis Wagner (1930-2022), the Pastor Emeritus of Grace Lutheran Church, Kitchener, fell asleep in the Lord after a brief illness on Sunday, September 25, 2022.  Rev. Wagner’s funeral will be held at Grace Lutheran Church (136 Margaret Avenue, Kitchener, ON) this Saturday, October 1, at 11AM.  You are invited to attend the funeral service in person.  A funeral luncheon will immediately follow the service.

Pastor Wagner is survived by his wife Jean, his sister Helen, his daughters Patricia (Greg), Nancy (Larry) and Leslie (Jim), and seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Pastor Wagner served as the third pastor of Grace Lutheran Church, arriving in his prime when he was forty years old and served the congregation from 1970 until his retirement in 1995.  During his ministry the congregation had a thriving small group Bible study ministry, a Sonshine fellowship group, and was active in the community in outreach in various forms.  He continued to serve the congregation as Pastor Emeritus in his retirement.  His pastoral care, his dry sense of humour, and his love for the Lord and the community will be missed.
