Welcome UW, WLU and Conestoga Students

Dear Post-Secondary students,

Welcome to Kitchener-Waterloo, or welcome back for another academic year!

Studying at the post-secondary level is an exciting time in life.  You have total freedom to set your schedule and you are treated like an adult.  You can study, socialize, exercise and work at the time of your choosing.  This is why many people remember their post-secondary days as the most enjoyable days in their life.  Being responsible for your academics but not being accountable to anyone other than yourself if freeing.

But post-secondary academics can also be stressful at times.  If you’ve been through post-secondary education of any type you will probably remember times when your instructors gave you more reading or more work than you could possibly do in a given week.  That is stressful.  Then there is also the isolation of being away from family and friends from home: this is the most challenging part of going away to study for many students.

No matter how you are doing or how you are feeling this week I invite you to do one more thing this academic year: remember your relationship with God and take the time to worship him, something that can easily be forgotten or minimized among all the choices the student lifestyle provides.  I invite you to join us here at Grace Lutheran Church as we worship God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  You may not know, Lutheran Christians are the original Protestants.  We value the Holy Bible as inerrant and inspired by God,  the sacraments, liturgical worship (following an order of service in a hymn book), sacred music along with Christian fellowship.  Here you will not only be blessed by hearing God’s Word in worship and being forgiven your sins, you will also find fellowship with other Christians and new Christian friends.  We have a nice group of university and college students here at Grace who know K-W well and can show you all the fun local places to eat and socialize.

If you come to Canada from another country and are not Christian by religious background, I still warmly invite you to join us for worship.  You will be warmly welcomed.  Christian worship is an essential Canadian and Western experience that you don’t want to miss.  And I hope that you will find the message of the hope and peace and forgiveness that are found in Jesus Christ to be more meaningful and moving than a casual tourist experience: I hope that you will find something here that you’ve always been looking for-true peace amidst all the changes and challenges of life.

Sincerely,

Pastor Korsch (UW Co-op chemistry, class of ’99)

P.S. If you need a ride, contact the church at 519-742-7431 and we can arrange a ride for you to church.  Worship service begins at 10:45AM on Sundays and Bible study begins at 9:30AM.
